The Ziebach County Historical Society Board of Directors has set the date of Saturday, May 2 for the 2020 bus tour of historic sites in southwest Ziebach County. An alternate weather date was also set for June 6. After several attempts to hold this tour in 2019, the Board hopes the weather and travel conditions will be more cooperative for the 2020 date.
The tour will be much like the Pioneer Days Fun Run with historical information and photos shared about each of the stops and sites along the way. Scheduled stops will include the Red Elm Depot, the Four Corners Bridge, Arrowhead, Red Scaffold and Little Ireland.
Departure will be at 10 a.m. from Harry’s Hall on Dupree’s Main Street with plans to return to that location at approximately 5 p.m. The bus will stop for lunch at the LTM Express in Takini, just east of Howes.
The cost for members will be $10 per person and $20 for non-members. A day of travel, stops, history and pictures will complete a day of learning more of the history of Ziebach County. The tour will also include the ZCHS Annual Meeting and recognition of the 2018 and 2019 Historians of the Year.
There is still a limited number of seats available on the bus so if you’d like to be included and want to reserve your seat, please send your appropriate fee to ZCHS, PO Box 452, Dupree, SD 57623, call 365-6043 or 365-6230 or contact one of the ZCHS Board Members by April 28.
Everyone is welcome to bring something to snack on throughout the day and lunch can be purchased at the LTM Express. Water will be furnished by the ZCHS for travelers.
