The Ziebach County Historical Society Board of Directors is planning a bus tour of historic sites in southwest Ziebach County. A date of May 18, 2019 has been set with an alternate weather date of June 1. The tour will be much like the Pioneer Days Fun Run in that historical information and photos will be shared about each of the stops and other sites along the way. Stops will include the Red Elm Depot, the Four Corners Bridge, Arrowhead and Red Scaffold. Departure will be at 1 p.m. from Harry’s Hall on Dupree’s Main Street with plans to return to that location at approximately 5 p.m. The cost for Historical Society members will be $10 per person and $20 per person for non-members. A day of travel, stops, history and pictures will complete a day of learning more of the history of Ziebach County. The tour will also include the ZCHS Annual Meeting and recognition of the 2018 Historian of the Year, Lawrence E. (Woody) Woodward.
To be included in the tour send your appropriate fee to ZCHS, PO Box 452, Dupree, SD 57623 or call 365-6230 or contact one of the ZCHS Board Members by May 1st. Board Members are Darla Vrooman, Twila Schuler, Robert & Kim Shannon, Evelyn Anderson, Shawn Olsen and Dondra Menzel. Travelers are welcome to bring something to snack on throughout the afternoon. Water will be furnished by the ZCHS.
