The Ziebach County Historical Society will be sponsoring the 2017 Chili Cook-Off on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Harry’s Hall. Prior winners are challenged to bring on their best chili to attempt a repeat championship.
Cook-off contenders will be asked to make their best pot of chili, name it and bring it to be judged by the public. There will be a $15.00 entry fee for each entry. Contestants may submit more than one entry. Each entry should be one gallon or more and the chili remaining after judging will be served to the general public for $5.00 per bowl; $2.00 for children 5-12; and no charge for children under age 5. Coffee, lemonade and a desert will be served also.
Please call Dondra Menzel at 365-5124 or Kim Shannon at 365-5286 to enter the cook-off. Entrants will be able to enter up to the night of the event but those who have notified one of us by January 2nd will get a little press coverage!
Check in time for the chili will be at 4:00 p.m. on Sunday, January 8, 2017 at Harry’s Hall. Judging will be done by the public beginning at 4:30 p.m. and serving will begin at approximately 5:00 p.m. Everyone is encouraged to attend a hot time in the old town on January 8th. The 2017 Chili Cook-Off Champion will be determined by popular vote cast by the public attending and will be crowned at 5:30 p.m. A milder soup choice will also be offered for the non-chili eaters. This year’s cook-off is a fundraiser for the Ziebach County Historical Society to purchase heating/cooling units for the Ziebach County History/Visitor Center in the old Catholic Church at the north end of Main Street.
