Mostly tolerable temperatures ahead

Spring ended with a heat wave. The highest temperature to date this year, 104°F in Eagle Butte, was recorded on Saturday June 5th. June 21st, Summer Solstice, was much more temperate with temperatures in the low 70s. Then another heat wave passed through on Wednesday, no one needs to be told how hot it was. Next week will be a little bit cooler.

The weekend will begin with a brief relief from the heat. It will feel like someone turned on the outdoor air conditioner. There is a fair chance that it will rain Friday morning though it will be overcast all day. Back to the mention of rain, there is a 45% chance in the morning and a 25% chance of evening rain. Expect N winds between 10 mph and 15 mph, gusting is likely throughout the day.

Sunday will be a very nice day other than the wind. Expect N winds to pick up as the day goes on to 15+mph with likely gusting. There is a 25% chance of afternoon rain. Humidity will be low enough to enjoy the outdoors.

Monday will be mostly sunny with a high of 85°F and an early morning low of 57°F. N-NE winds between 5 mph to 12 mph will likely be gusty as a high-pressure system continues to push cloud-cover out of our area. Winds will shift N-NE-E in the evening. There is a good chance of morning fog in the valleys and low areas.

Tuesday will warm up to 80°F by late morning and will be the brightest and sunniest day of the next week. Expect an afternoon high of 89°F and an early morning low of 62°F. Winds will be blowing SSE 5 mph to 13 mph throughout the day and into the night.

Wednesday and Thursday are going to be hot. Plan for mostly sunny skies with highs in the mid to high 90s and lows in the mid 60s. SE winds will be steady between 10 mph and 15 mph. There is a fair chance of morning fog. Precipitation is unlikely but there is a slight chance of afternoon rain next Thursday.
