Timber Lake got the season off to a flying start with a 64-14 win over rival Faith in Timber Lake on Friday, Aug. 28.
After the Panthers opened the game with a six-yard Jayce Lawrence touchdown run and Faith answered with Joel Gifford returning the ensuing kickoff 90 yards to the end zone, the game was all Timber Lake.
Kedrick Martin threw touchdowns of 64 yards to Slater Ducheneaux and 51 yards to Hank Kraft before Ducheneaux picked off a Faith pass and scored from 64 yards out to give Timber Lake a 26-0 lead after one quarter.
Kraft found the end zone three times in the second quarter, twice on passes from Martin and once on the ground, to give the Panthers and insurmountable 50-6 lead at the half.
Martin finished the game 10 for 12 passing for 285 yards and four touchdowns. Kraft caught four passes for 140 yards and ran for another 33, while scoring four touchdowns.
The Panthers, ranked honorable mention in this week’s coaches poll, shoot for a 2-0 start in Dupree on Friday. The game was postponed from its original Aug. 21 date because of high COVID-19 numbers at that time. Dupree is also 1-0 after racing to a 70-28 win at Bison last week.
