Stephanie Carol Auge Goodbear, 70, of Mayville and formerly of Panama and Eagle Butte, SD, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2020 at her home with family at her side.
She was born October 15, 1949 in Westfield, NY, the daughter of the late Eldon and Deleo Carol Miller Auge. Stephanie had worked in Human Services as a Social Worker specializing in women’s and children’s advocacy at Sacred Heart in Eagle Butte, SD for twelve years. Prior to that she worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide and Reiki Master. She had also received her Emergency Medical Training (EMT) license, a certified herbalist, was a Red Cross Instructor, a member of the Mayville VFW Post 8647 and volunteered for the Panama Fire Department.
Before re-locating to Eagle Butte, Stephanie had fostered children in her Chautauqua County home. She also enjoyed genealogy, gardening, and had a life-long affection for animals, eventually getting a license for the care of wild animals. Above all she enjoyed spending time with her family.
She is survived by her six children; Laurie Williams of Tucson, AZ, Amanda (Andy) Anderson of Ashville, Christine (Jody) Peterson of Sherman, Andrew (Wende) Lescynski of Lakewood, Melissa (Christian) Martin of Flagstaff, AZ, and Jordan (Ashley) Jantzi of Jacksonville, FL, ten grandchildren; Taylor and Casey Williams, Kyle and Morgan Olson, Jona Peterson, Aleena and Andee Anderson, Evan Lescynski, and Evelyn and Jameson Jantzi, five siblings; Eldon Auge, Darwyn Auge, Julie (Tim) Nickerson, Warner (Karen) Auge, and Gilbert (Sandy) Auge, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents; Eldon Auge and Carol Breads.
Per Stephanie’s wishes, a private graveside ceremony in the North Harmony Cemetery will take place with her children and grandchildren.
