Phyllis Parker


Funeral services for Phyllis Parker, age 89 of Lantry, SD will be 10:30 AM MT, Monday, July 30, 2018 at the United Church of Christ in Eagle Butte. Interment will be in the Lantry Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services at the church. Phyllis passed away Saturday, July 21, 2018 at Prairie Hills Nursing Home, Rapid City, SD.

Phyllis Simon Parker was born on May 20, 1929 at Dupree to Alvin and Inez (Insley) Simon. She grew up on the family farm east of Parade, SD. She graduated from Eagle Butte High School in 1947. Shortly after High School she taught at a country school.

Phyllis was united in marriage to Darrel Parker on December 14, 1949. To this union three children were born, Connie, Bruce and Julie. They farmed and ranched in Lantry for 53 years. Phyllis worked various jobs in Eagle Butte including Coast to Coast, The Plains Clothing Store and Thompson Drug. After retiring she enjoyed spending many hours with her grandchildren. Phyllis had many hobbies including baking, quilting, gardening, crocheting, knitting and embroidering. Phyllis and Carli would spend some summers in Garden City, KS, with Connie. She had a love for cats and dogs.

Grateful for sharing her life, Connie (Wade) McKenna, Garden City, KS,  Bruce (Dawn) Parker, of Lantry, Julie (Fred) Haskell of Eagle Butte, grandchildren George (Julie) Jewett, Rapid City, SD, Jayme (Gina) Jewett, Holcomb, KS, Justin (JaTona) Parker, Pierre, SD, Pamela Jo (Jeremy) Jackson, Gillette, WY, Jayce (Jessica) Parker, Timber Lake, SD, Kelsie Haskell, Eagle Butte, Kolbi (Tristan Sampson) Haskell, Numerous great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, her brother Darrell (Linda) Simon, Gettysburg, SD, Judy (Alfred) Nagel, Gettysburg, SD, sister-in-laws, Dee Parker, Farmington, MN., Rosetta Simon., Conde, SD.

She was preceded in death by her husband Darrel, four brothers, Twins at infancy, Kenneth Simon, Donald Simon, her parents and a very special granddaughter Carli Ann Haskell.
