Nadine F. Knight entered the Spirit World while surrounded by family on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at her home in Covelo, California.
Nadine was born in Cherry Creek, South Dakota on December 5, 1935 to Wallace and Sarah Knight. She was the youngest of the Knight clan.
Nadine grew up on her parents ranch along Ash Creek with her three brothers and two sisters. Being the youngest seemed to bring out the ornery in her and she kept this streak her whole life – a streak that is proudly carried on by her children and grandchildren.
She attended elementary school in Dupree and high school at Old Cheyenne Agency Boarding School. After high school she went on to attend Nursing school in Albuquerque, New Mexico and began a job right out of school working at a TB Sanatorium in Tacoma, Washington.
While in Washington she met her future husband and partner for life Stanley (Duffy) Cook. Together they raised five boys, Lyle (Cac), Cody, Carl, Jason (Benny) and Dana.
Throughout her life, she worked many different jobs which included nursing, ranching and over the road trucking. To truly know Nadine was to know her sense of humor, delicious cooking, endless generosity and her ability to find laughter in just about any situation.
Nadine is survived by her husband, four of her boys, several grandchildren, nieces and nephews – all of whom she was incredibly proud. She is preceded by both her parents, brothers, sisters and one son, Cody.
She will be forever missed.
A memorial honoring Nadine will be held in June 2019 in Covelo, California.
