Moreau-Grand Electric Cooperative celebrated 73 years on Friday, Oct. 4, 2019. The theme for this year’s annual membership meeting was “Reflecting on the Past – While Building for the Future.” The annual meeting was held at the Timber Lake Public School with 113 members going through the registration line. The evening began with the R Rockin Bar and Grill of Timber Lake serving a pulled pork supper to 262 members and guests. Following the meal, the Elite Energy Cloggers entertained the membership. They were followed by the youth drawing and movie for our younger members. Those attending the meeting were moved by Pastor Collette Schaffer’s rendition of our National Anthem. In addition to the financial report presented by Treasurer Lois Bartlett, President Larry Hieb and Manager Melissa Maher gave the membership updates on the cooperative. This year’s Good Neighbor Award was presented posthumously to the children and family of Julie Landis.
The directors decided this year to donate a portion of their compensation to develop the Directors Scholarship. This year’s recipients are District 1 Korrie Zentner, District 2 Natalie Viet, District 3 Gracie Sandquist, District 4 Shantell Brewer and District 5 Sapphire Tiger. The membership elected four directors to serve on the board: District 1 – Royce Walker; District 2 – Lois Bartlett; District 4 – Paul Lawrence and District 5-Troy Wall. Washington, D.C., Youth Tour representative Miranda Hulm thanked the membership for the opportunity and reported on her activities during the tour. Door prizes were given throughout the evening with the winners as follows:
• Young Members’ Prize: Max Biegler and Hailey Roggow.
• Cash Prize winners: Tyrone Kraft, Cherie Leibel, Gene Reinbold, Shanna Martin and Bobby Jo Kraft.
• 40-inch Roku TV: Mr. and Mrs. Bob Jackson.
