The All Saints Council #6537 Knights of Columbus chapter chose to dedicate this year’s JH Boys’ Basketball Knights of Columbus tournament to the memory of Bill Carmody.

Carmody was a charter member of the All Saints Council #6537 and taught school, coached, and was the Athletic Director at  Dupree School from 1971 through 2001.  He was a sports enthusiast his entire life and very instrumental in organizing and promoting the Knights of Columbus basketball tournaments for junior high players.  After 30 years of service to the area, he retired and moved to Mitchell, SD where he lived with his  wife Betty until his death on October 10, 2015.

To show their appreciation for his years of dedication to the program and council, and for a generous memorial in Bill Carmody’s name that will continue to help sponsor these basketball tournaments, his family was recognized during the 2016 tournament which was dedicated to Bill Carmody.  His wife Betty was unable to make the trip from Mitchell, however, all of his five children and one of his grandchildren were in attendance as council members Ray Lenk and Dale McLellan shared information and presented them with the memorial.
