Dupree Pioneer Days has a new event on Sunday, June 23 at 10:00 a.m. It’s a Kiddie Parade! Children 12 years and younger will begin the parade on the block by the Lakota Thrifty Mart and proceed south on Main Street to Pioneer Hall, where they will meet for a group photo.
There is no “theme” this year other than “tradition.” Children may walk, ride bikes, and drive battery-powered vehicles. Walkers may wear traditional regalia or dress up like pioneers or clowns.
On Saturday, the YMCA will help kids decorate bikes, so that they’ll be parade ready. At the conclusion of the parade, three cash prizes will be awarded under the awning of Pioneer Hall.
Kimberly Shannon and Michelle Wall are the coordinators for this new event, and would like to see lots of kids come and participate. Line-up for the parade will begin at 9:45 a.m. by the LTM. We hope to see you there!
