Mass of Christian Burial for Hilda Jean Ducheneaux (Wakinyela Ska-White Dove), 67, Timber Lake will be at 11 a.m., MT, Monday, September 12, 2016 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Timber Lake. 


Burial was at the Timber Lake Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. 


An all-night wake will started 6 p.m. Sunday at the church with Rosary services at 7 PM. Hilda passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016, at Sanford Hospital in Bismarck.


Hilda Thompson was born on July 21, 1949 to Mavis Hand Boy & Max Thompson at home in Promise. Hilda spent her early years growing up in Promise and later moved to White Horse. Hilda attended grade school in White Horse and High School at St. Elizabeth Mission in Wakpala.


Hilda married Thomas Ducheneaux on August 14, 1968 in Pierre, South Dakota. They were blessed with 4 children. Cindy, Leland, TJ, and Joann. They made their home in the Promise Area from 1968-1987. Hilda worked as a CHR for several years in the Blackfoot, Promise & White Horse areas. In 1987 they moved to Timber Lake, where she worked at the school from 1999-2007.


She and Tom enjoyed following their favorite local bands, sporting events, bingo nights and casino outings. Her daily activities included sewing dancing outfits, watching soaps and keeping in touch with friends and family. She took pleasure in decorating her home for all holidays and enjoyed dressing up for Halloween. Hilda treasured watching her grandchildren participate in all sports & pow-wows, she was their biggest supporter.


Hilda entered the spirit world on September 7, 2016 at the Sanford Medical Center in Bismarck, ND, surrounded by her loving family, after enduring a long battle of illness.


Hilda is survived by her loving husband Thomas of 48 years. Her children Cindy (Joe)of Fort Yates, Leland of Madison, Joann (Ellissa)of Timber Lake. Grandchildren; Logan (Haley), Regan, Aleisha & JP; along with many more precious grandchildren & great grandchildren.  Sister, Althea Thompson of Fort Yates & half-sisters Julie, Tess & Grace Thompson of Mobridge. Brothers Larry Hand Boy of Rapid City, George & Elvis Hand Boy of Eagle Butte. Brother-in-law, Ross Lawrence. Sisters-in-law, Audrey (Bob) Hagel, Janice (Al) Aberle, Sharon (Whitey) Keller, Arlyce (Bill) Wientjes, Mary Jane Anderson, Lila Faye (Ronnie) Long, and Bunny (Frankie) Thompson.


She is proceeded in death by son, TJ; mother, Mavis; Father, Max; Baby Brother, Nathan; Half-Brothers, Max Jr, Butch, Vincent, Casey and Dallas; Father in Law, Tuffy and Mother in law Mary Ducheneaux. Sister in laws, Phyllis (Elmer) Gunville, Deloris (Dick) Ward, Butchie (Vincent) Thompson, and Debbe Lawrence. Brother in laws Roman & Lyle Ducheneaux, Dick Anderson and Delbert Lamb.
