Mass of Christian Burial for Gracie Murray, 37, Timber Lake, will be 10:00 AM Wednesday, November 29, 2017 at All Saints Catholic Church Eagle Butte. Interment will be in St. Catherine Catholic Cemetery, Promise, SD, under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Friends are asked to meet at 4-mile junction at 4 PM on Tuesday, November 28, 2017 to process to the Old Agency Building for an all-night wake, with a prayer service 7 PM. Gracie passed away, Friday, November 24, 2017 at her home in Timber Lake, SD.
Gracie was born on December 31, 1979 in Aberdeen, SD to Hap and Marilyn (Shortbull) Marshall. She grew up in the Glad Valley, SD area until her mother passed away. She then lived in Eagle Butte attending school at C-EB and Flandreau Indian school. She lived with her friends in Aberdeen, Mobridge and Eagle Butte.
Gracie married Jayme Murray on June 19, 2004 in Pierre, SD. They lived in Eagle Butte, before moving to Patch Skin Buttes near Blackfoot, where they raised their family and enjoyed ranching.
Her pride and joy were her two children, Tell and Miley. Gracie was proud of her Lakota Heritage and always told her kids they came from strong Lakota blood, Chief Shortbull and Chief Yellow Hawk.
After her children were born she attended Stewarts School of Beauty in Sioux Falls. Upon graduation from Stewarts School of Beauty, she opened her own business “Beauty Style and Grace.” in Pierre, SD.
Gracie always took pride in her appearance, making sure her clothing and makeup were always done up. She also enjoyed helping people.
Gracie loved to paint and specialized in painting traditional dancers on skulls. She also loved to travel, enjoyed music, make-up, and adored animals especially her cat “Oscar” for 19 years.
Gracie currently was owner and manager of Big Dad’s Grub and Pub in Timber Lake.
Gracie is survived by her husband Jayme Murray, son, Tell Carter Murray and daughter, Miley James Murray of Blackfoot SD, her papa, Hap Marshall of Eagle Butte, sisters, Ruby (Daniel) Barse, Dawn (Eric) Smith, Jennifer (Shane) Marshall, brothers, Will Marshall, Bruce Allen, her hunka sisters, Keni Jo Ducheneaux, Stephanie Birdwell, all her aunts, uncles, cousins, and her nieces and nephews who she adored tremendously.
Gracie was preceded in death by her mother, Marilyn Marshall, grandparents, Irving and Ruby Marshall and Norman and Grace Shortbull.
