Dupree Lakota community votes to “Go Green”

The Dupree Lakota community voted last month to “Go Green!”

They begin their green efforts at the Dupree wacipi chow line for Saturday and Sunday, by telling people to bring their own plates, bowls, and utensils. No paper paper products will be provided “just like it was back in the days when our grandmothers tied them up in dishtowels and packed them to take to powwows,” said CRST District 1 Councilwoman Bernita Inthewoods.

“We hope to start our planning next month for recycling and renewalable energy,” Inthewoods said.

Inthewood admitted it will be a lot of work, but they will focus on one

community at a time.

“Our young people

will be key,”

Inthewoods said.
