The Dupree Lakota Club has joined Teca Wacipi Okolakiciye (T.W.O.) which is based in Pine Ridge. The schools associated with T.W.O. will host a wacipi and hand games competitions.  The Dupree hand games team has grown this year to include two elementary teams and one small high school team. So far this school year, they have competed at Wounded Knee School, Loneman School, and Red Cloud School.

The Dupree students will team up with the students from Takini School to work together to host their T.W.O. event which will be held in March of 2018. This partnership between the schools will give students the opportunity to gain the skills and knowledge needed to host a T.W.O. event at Dupree School sometime next school year.

The hand game tournaments are a year around sport and the Dupree students and their chaperones will continue to travel to T.W.O. events and in turn fundraise for those competition expenses as well as the upcoming Lakota Nation Invitational hand games. The Lakota Club Advisers, Medina Matonis and DeCora Hawk, are going into classrooms to teach students about hand games and some basic Lakota language during Native Pride Week which is being held Nov. 6-10, 2017 at Dupree School.  There are sponsoring designated culturally appropriate dress-up days as well as presentations for the entire school body.
