Mass of Christian Burial for Darci Rae Laurenz, 33, of Eagle Butte will be at 10 a.m., Tuesday, June 1, 2021, at All Saints Catholic Church in Eagle Butte. Burial will be at the Eagle Butte Cemetery under the direction of Kesling Funeral Home of Mobridge. Family and friends will meet at the 4-mile junction at 4 p.m. Monday to process to the church for services at 7 p.m. Darci passed away Sunday, May 23, 2021 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls. 

Darci Rae Laurenz was born in Eagle Butte, South Dakota, on July 10, 1987, to Michon Marshall and Shane Laurenz. Darci passed away in Sioux Falls on May 23, 2021.

Darci attended Tiospaye Topa School for most of her school years, graduating from there in May 2005. Throughout her life Darci worked various jobs, sometimes even two or more at a time, with her most recent employments being a substitute teacher at the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte High School and Surveillance Security at Grand River Casino. She liked to refer to herself as “The Eye in the Sky” at GRC.

Darci has been blessed with two beautiful daughters, August Cali and Kateri Jade, and one very handsome son, Alexander Layne Reed. Darci considered being a mother to be her greatest accomplishment. She made sure she made lasting memories with her children, whether they were cruising the open roads with her music blasting, sitting at the river or a pool somewhere, or just being with family.

Darci is survived by her children; August Cali, Kateri Jade and Alexander Layne Reed; her mother Michon Marshall (Mark LeBeau); father Shane Laurenz; siblings Kelsie Lawrence (Clint), Kelan Gesinger (Toni), Kelli Laurenz (Shad), Cooper Marshall (Nate), Trevor Laurenz (Skya), Alyssa & Robbi Laurenz, Michael Marshall (Tammy), Brandee Jewett and Whitney Joe.  Nieces and nephews; Kahlor, Kiercen, Carter, Krue, JoyceAnn and Payton. Numerous grandmas, grandpas, aunts, uncles, cousins and extended family.

Darci was preceded in death by her grandparents: Joyce Circle Eagle-Hill, Bob Marshall, Auggie and Heddy Laurenz; aunts Sandy Laurenz and Patty Kennedy; and special uncle Franklin Darcy Halfred (Jumbo) whom she was named after.
