CRST implements travel ban for tribal & government employees, citing coronavirus precaution measure

On March 4, Cheyenne River Sioux Tribal Chairman Harold Frazier announced that there will be a “travel ban for all tribal and government employees” to areas with known or possible cases of COVID-19 (coronavirus), and that all travel “that uses mass transit or travel hubs with a large amount of people will not be authorized.”

The memorandum from the tribal leader states that all directors and supervisors are “instructed to consider valuable training alternatives” such as telecommunications or correspondence in place of in-person training.

Furthermore, only “essential” travel would be considered on a case-by-case basis by the chairman.

“The Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe is taking active and passive measures to protect our population and will take action utilizing all the resources available,” states Frazier.
