Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Chairman Harold Frazier has issued a letter restricting all non-profit and volunteer organizations from entering the Cheyenne River Sioux Reservation.
Spring break and summer months have been popular times of year when organizations come on the reservation for volunteer projects and camps.
The announcement from Chairman Frazier comes amid the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic across the globe, and with cases reported in South Dakota.
“It is imperative to keep individuals and groups from transporting COVID-19 to the reservation. It is important to ensure the safety of our tribal members,” said Chairman Frazier before urging organizations to consider rescheduling projects until further notice.
