COVID-19 mass testing to take place June 4 Cheyenne River Health Center

The Cheyenne River Health Center will conduct COVID-19 testing at Eagle Butte Service Unit tomorrow, June 4 from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Testing is available to everyone, tribal and non-tribal members, according to a hospital employee.

The event will be conducted as a drive-up/drive-thru manner. A post on the health center’s social media page states patients will not have to exit their vehicle and will not be required to enter the facility.

Specimens will be collected near the main entrance of the hospital and signs will be posted with information to help motorists navigate.

“Staff will approach each vehicle to collect necessary information, answer pertinent questions, and obtain a nasal specimen,” states the Facebook post.

The first 200 tests will have results within 24 hours, while additional tests will take 3-4 days to receive results. Any patient who shows COVID-19 symptoms will have a quick test administered and results will be available in approximately 30 minutes.
