Current COVID-19 Response Plan Level 2
Things of Note:
Cases went up from three to ten on CRST this week and one new person died. Keep wearing your mask and practicing all the CDC guidelines. Late last week CDC Director Rochelle Walensky spoke to a press conference and said, “I’m going to pause here. I’m going to lose the script, and I’m going to reflect on the recurring feeling I have of impending doom. We have so much to look forward to, so much promise and potential of where we are and so much reason for hope. But right now, I’m scared.”
Vaccinations are underway for anyone living on CRST. You do not have to be a tribal member to get one. First shots given: 2,617. Second shots: 2,279. Given the CDC and Washington Post reporting on the ungeniality of vaccine numbers reported by South Dakota, we are going to take a week off from reporting on SD numbers. Nationwide 29% of the population has received one vaccine shot, and 16% have had the second shot.
Walworth County, South Dakota, is still a head-lining national hotspot for it’s extremely high risk level – into the purple category. The 14-day positivity average has gone up to 16%. Cases are high and staying high in every state we track.
