Cheyenne River tribal member named to the Class AA Girls Basketball All-State TeamFree Access


Lexus Eagle Chasing, a senior at Stevens High School in Rapid City, was a standout on her team and led the Stevens girls team to a record of 19-5. The team finished the season by placing seventh at the State AA Girls Basketball Tournament.

Last week, Eagle Chasing was named the NBC NewsCenter 1 Top Performer.

This was not the first time that Eagle Chasing was recognized for her outstanding athletic ability. In February Eagle Chasing was named the Athlete of the Week by the KEVN Black Hills Fox News channel.

On March 25, Eagle Chasing played in the Northern Hills Senior All-Star game in Spearfish, leading in scores with 20 points, 8 rebounds, 5 steals, and 3 assists. She also made the game-winning 3-point shot in overtime.

Eagle Chasing plans to continue playing basketball at the college level and is looking at universities in Minnesota.

She is the daughter of James Eagle Chasing and Lourdes Parker.

Eagle Chasing will play in the South Dakota Girls All-Star game in Sioux Falls on April 7.
