The mission of the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Schools is to, “prepare students with the academic, spiritual, physical, cultural, and social skills needed to be productive world citizens and lifelong learners in a technological world.”
In order to do just that, the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Schools hosted their First Annual Staff Culture Night on November 17, 2021.
The event showcased the worldly and cultural experiences of C-EB Schools’ staff as a way to promote student success through the understanding of other cultures. Staff members were invited to gather for an evening of sharing and a celebration of cultural diversity.
A potluck meal from a variety of cuisines was part of the experience. Sixty attendees feasted on Philippine lumpia, adobo, pancit, and other delights. The menu also included other delicacies like Norwegian pancakes, frybread, soups, and other foods.
A cultural presentation was given by our group of international teachers, and attendees were treated to a jingle dress exhibition dance. Other activities included a traditional yucca root presentation by Mr. Chalmers Combellick, and a natural soap making demonstration by Ms. Dawn E. LeBeau.
The event was sponsored by C-EB Schools and the CRST Title I Program. The event will be repeated annually to further promote collegiality and team-building, and to better enhance student success.
