CEB Archers compete at NASP Nationals

The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte Upper Elementary “Ohitika” Archery Team traveled to Louisville, Kentucky on May 11 to compete in the National Archery in the School Program (NASP) National Tournaments. The CEB Archers took part in the National “Bullseye” and the IBO 3D Tournaments held at the Kentucky Convention Center on Friday May 13. 


23 CEB Archers made the long trip and put up team high scores in both events. In the Bullseye Tournament the team shot a score of 2,799 up from their 2015 National score of 2,621. In the 3D competition the Archers put up a score of 1,211, also up from the 2015 National score of 1,167. Both team scores were good enough to qualify the team for the NASP World Archery Tournament in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina in June.


The C-EB team finished with a ranking of 134 out of 156 teams in the Bullseye and 34 out of 66 in the 3D Tournaments. More than 14,000 students were in attendance.

3D Tournament (World Qualifiers- Team 1 Score of Top 5 shooters 1,211): Brock Ducheneaux – 264, Teysean Eaglestaff – 260, Lillian Halfred – 232, Elijah Brewer – 230, Maximus Bobtail Bear – 225, Jaxson Logg – 221, Braylee Yellow Owl – 213, Leila Miner – 212, Rylin Rousseau – 211, Kieran Dupris – 174, Quinn Benoist – 132.


“I’m very proud of all they’ve accomplished this year. First in the South Dakota Bullseye and first in the 3D NASP Tournament two years in a row, and to compete at the National level against 156 Elementary school and do extremely well says a lot about our students and Archery program,” said C-EB archery instructor Allen Benoist.


Other students that attended the National Tournament: Lance Hawk Eagle, Matthew Bobtail Bear, Leroya Blue Arm-Webb, Ryker Logg, Raelynn Bad Warrior, Ayden Sampson, Naveigh White Horse,  Juell Twite and Adam Berndt.
