C-EB to host College Application Week

In 2014, C-EB High School was one of nine schools in South Dakota selected to participate as a pilot school for the South Dakota College Application Week. In the three years we have participated, College Application Week assisted 174 C-EB seniors who submitted 233 applications to SD Board of Regents’ schools, 35 applications to SD Technical schools, 5 applications to SD private institutions, 2 applications to cosmetology school, and 26 application to a Tribal College with the total amount of application fees waived amounting to $5,295.00.

For 2017, South Dakota has continued to expand their pilot and C-EB is still involved with the project. During the week of October 30-November 3, all C-EB seniors expected to graduate at the end of this academic year will be encouraged to apply for admission to at least one college or university, if they have not already done so. However, students can submit up to three applications to SD institutions participating in the project, with their fees waived. Further, many other states participate in the American College Application Campaign so school personnel will assist students with contacting out of state institutions to see if they are willing to waive application fees.

C-EB will again rely on their partnership with Four Band Community Fund for onsite assistance with applications, ACT registration, and promote the youth initiatives that Four Bands offers. To expand the week, the High School will be hosting our Fall Seminars on Success (SOS) Program on the evening of November 1, 2017 which will include a workshop on Financial Aid that will feature assistance with the Tribal Higher Education application and the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
