C-EB/Dupree wrestlers secure top placements at Lakota Nation Invitational

The Cheyenne-Eagle Butte/Dupree wrestlers left a lasting impression on the LNI mats this year, placing fifth overall and having five wrestlers make it to the championship rounds on Saturday evening.

Placing for C-EB/Dupree in first place in their weight classes were Xander Bowman in the 113-pound weight class, and Gabe Halfred in the 145-pound weight class.

Also earning points for the team were runners up wrestlers in three other weight classes: Tyler Stambach, in the 120-pound weight class, Hunter Stambach in the 170-pound weight class, and Josh Jiminez in the 138-pound weight class.

Compared to other teams, the C-EB/Dupree wrestlers are smaller in number and have participants in fewer weight classes.

The wrestlers are coached by Josh Schrempp and Larry Elwess.

The next competition for the wrestlers is scheduled for Jan. 4 and 5 in Hettinger, ND.

They will be closer to home Jan. 12 when they travel to Gettysburg for the Battler Tournament.
