The Cheyenne Eagle Butte Braves basketball team opened their season with a 44-57 loss on the road against the Miller Rustlers.
The Braves led throughout the game and held a two-point lead heading into the final quarter. However, the Braves scored only two points in the final eight minutes as the Rustlers outscored C-EB 17-2 to pull off the win.
C-EB senior Brexton Traversie led the Braves with 17 points and pulled down 12 rebounds in the contest. Wyatt Jewett was the only other Braves to finish in double digits with 12 points and six rebounds.
The Braves held a six-point lead at 13-7 lead after the first quarter of play, but the Rustlers narrowed the lead to only two-points in the second quarter after outscoring C-EB 15-19.
The Braves head to Rapid City as they prepare for the Lakota Nation Invitational Tournament.
The Braves first round match will be played against Lower Brule on Wednesday night at 8:30 p.m. MDT at the Civic Center’s Ice Arena.
