Braves’ boys’ teams crushed by Crusaders



Big man and Varsity Senior JohnHenry Hale goes up and over Red Cloud. The Braves nearly brought the score within 10 points in the third quarter, but Red Cloud pulled away in the fourth quarter.

In what was a rematch for the Cheyenne-Eagle Butte boys’ varsity basketball team, the Braves played Red Cloud Friday night with a debt to settle, but came up with a second loss against the quick Crusaders, scoring 61 points to RC’s 89.

According to C-EB reporter Yutona Lawrence’s statistics, Dayson Kohlus and Naden Joaquin scored in the double digits for the Braves followed closely by Trevis Oakie.

Harley Neigel cuts in along the baseline, reverses and passes outside. Red Cloud’s defense was tough presented a challenge to the Brave’s offense, who lost two players to injury.

Varsity and JV threw strong passes, but missed a lot of shots, and Red Cloud more aggressively recovered rebounds and denied shots and passes.

Despite the loss, C-EB boys are making cleaner and stronger passes, and strengthening their defense.

The next game is in McLaughlin on Jan. 16 starting at 5:00 p.m. mountain time.

JV freshman Chaney LeCompte battles for a rebound and attempts another shot before being sent to the foul line. Leading scorer for JV was Bradley Iron Hawk, and for C was Ethan Ross.
