Kelci Bends, a ninth grade student at Dupree High School, was asked by Syd Colombe if she would be interested in singing “The Lord’s Prayer” while Colombe did sign language to it at the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, NV this December.
Bends said yes and they will be performing at the 3rd performance of the WNFR (Thomas & Mack) on Saturday, December 5th. Their performance will be a part of the Grand Entry. The Thomas & Mack arena holds 17,500 people and the performance will also be televised worldwide in front of millions; an estimated 20 million will be viewing the NFR.
Prior to this opportunity, Kelci also sang the national anthem at the Indian National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas this past November and has shared her vocal gifts and musical talents at numerous local and state events. Bends will also be performing at the upcoming SD Snow Queen Talent Contest in January where she’ll be doing a duet with Olivia Dosch.
