Remi Bald Eagle was selected as the Democratic candidate for the State Public Utilities Commission by the South Dakota Democratic Party during their state convention on Saturday, June 20. Bald Eagle will challenge incumbent Gary Hanson of Sioux Falls in the November general election.
Hanson is in his third term as a commissioner is the current the chairman of the commission
Bald Eagle, who serves as the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Intergovernmental Affairs Coordinator, is active within the Democratic Party. He co-chaired the State Democratic Convention, co-chaired the Subcommittee on Natural Resources and Environment, and serves on the newly-formed Native Caucus Committee.
“I am profoundly grateful for the confidence of the South Dakota Democratic Party in selecting me as their candidate for the State Public Utilities Commission. I will strive to do my best to provide representation that’s in the best interests of the great people and land of this state,” Bald Eagle said.
