On Wednesday, Aug. 5 members of the American Legion Auxiliary delivered donations for families who are quarantined due to the pandemic.

After hearing from parents who were quarantined with children who wanted to do fun activities while home, the Auxiliary went into action and began gathering donations.

Auxiliary members expanded their donation drive to include kits for adults. The children’s bags included coloring books, crayons, construction paper, pencils, scissors and glue sticks. Adult kits contained coloring books, puzzles, word searches, a deck of card, colored pencils and a sharpener.

The Auxiliary donated 50 activity bags total, 20 for adults and 30 for children. The group delivered the donation to the CRST Food Pantry in Eagle Butte and pantry employees will distribute as needed.

According to Auxiliary President Nancy Dupris, the group also took backpacks to the Mustard Seed for the homeless, and delivered hygiene kits to the homeless shelter in Eagle Butte.

Their work did not end there- the group also delivered highlighters and word search books Medicine Wheel Village.

“The Auxiliary is always looking for ways to help people who are in need throughout the community,” said Dupris.

If you’d like to donate, you can call 605-964-3574 or 605-200-0071.
