Allen Roy Maier

Allen Roy Maier passed away on February 28, 2019 at Ft. Lauderdale, Florida.

Allen was born September 2, 1960 to Milbert and Gertrude (Raile) Maier at Gettysburg, SD.

Allen was baptized and confirmed at the Emmanuel Lutheran church in Eagle Butte. Allen attended CEB grade school and 3 years of high school and graduated from Faith High School in 1978.

After graduation Allen joined the U.S. Army. After completing his time in the service, Allen returned home and moved to the east coast where he spent many years as a hotel concierge. His job allowed him to live in many different states. Allen was a very dedicated worker and won many awards for his excellent work ethic. He was very proud of that.

Allen’s last move took him to Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He enjoyed the warmer climate and living near the ocean where he spent as much time there as possible.

Allen loved his family and always enjoyed visiting with them every chance he had. He had a special love for his pets, a cat and a dog, which he sadly lost recently in an apartment fire, where his dog woke Allen out of his sleep and saved his life. Tragically the cat and dog did not survive.

Allen is survived by his brothers, Earl (Alice) Maier, Faith, SD; Dale (Dency) Maier, Timber Lake, SD; Adam Joens, Spearfish, SD; Casey Joens.
