Free Trees to be given out for Arbor Day

Three individuals convicted of burning down St. Basil’s chuch near Ridgeview last summer were sentenced last week by U.S. District Judge Roberto Lange. Chey-Mor Reading Council held its annual awards dinner

The Chey-Mor Reading Council held its annual Awards Dinner on April 21, 2016. There were 22 winners this year. The winners received a medal, a certificate, and various prizes. Our speaker was Robert Slocum. He talked about his experiences with reading and writing throught out his life and encouraged the young audience to become lifelong learners.


Third grade celebrated their AR reading goals of 10 points or more at the Pirate Party. The pirates enjoyed some island hopping, dancing, treats, treasure chests, and tasty pirate punch. Those mates who did not reach their goal had to “walk the plank” in the reading room.

Peterson and Fast Wolf receive Gold Cup from Piano Festival

 Kinzee Peterson and Nathaniel Fast Wolf each received their first Gold Cup from the Aberdeen Area Piano Festival last week. Both pianists received three Superior ratings-5 points-in as many years for a total of the 15 points needed to attain this engraved trophy.  The 2016 Piano Festival was held in Aberdeen on March 5.
